Get the care you deserve.

Barbara L. Fraser,

MA, MAT, LPC

After a career in public education as a special needs teacher, I returned to graduate school and earned a Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology in 2011 from University of Denver.  I am a Colorado licensed professional counselor.  Also, I am EMDR certified and fully trained as a Grief Recovery® Specialist.

I earned a Master's Degree in Teaching from Tufts University and a Certificate in Advanced Educational Study from Boston College.  I have an undergraduate degree in English Literature from St. Lawrence University.

I am passionate about mental health and strive to establish a caring, nonjudgmental therapeutic relationship with clients which fosters insight and positive change.  Knowing firsthand about loss, depression, and challenging transitions, my ambition is to help instill hope, meaning and happiness into people's lives during difficult times.

I moved to Colorado with my husband and three children in 2002.  Before moving, I lived in Connecticut and Massachusetts where I was a high school special education teacher working with socially and emotionally maladjusted students.  My family and I have wonderful adventures exploring the West, and we enjoy mountain activities such as skiing, camping and hiking.  My hobbies include running, yoga, tennis, reading, and travel.  I am a member of the American Counseling Association, Colorado Counseling Association and EMDR International Association.

"To appreciate openness, we must have experienced encouragement to try the new, to seek alternatives, to view fresh possibilities."

— Sister Mary Luke Tobin

Outdoor therapy

I am happy to meet clients outdoors. Popular meeting spots are Wash Park in Denver and the Highline Canal. Research has proven that being in nature has numerous health benefits. Walking mindfully outdoors or sitting in nature fosters a sense of calm and life balance, reduces stress, improves mood, and generates positive feelings and thoughts.
